Brad Cunningham,Lamar McKnight Obituary, Death; – Two high school football coaches were among six individuals who tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident in New Jersey on Friday night, as reported by law enforcement and school officials.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred around 10:45 p.m. when the vehicle collided with a support column of the Pulaski Skyway and subsequently ignited. The crash took place near the junction of Raymond Boulevard and Blanchard Street.
The vehicle was reportedly traveling along Raymond Boulevard towards the southbound on-ramp of Route 1-9 when it veered off the road, became airborne, and struck the support column for the Pulaski Skyway, according to a statement from the Essex County prosecutor’s office.
Following the impact with the column, the vehicle erupted in flames. Investigators confirmed that all six occupants of the car perished in the incident.
Social media has identified at least two of the deceased individuals. Rutgers Football Head Coach Greg Schiano shared a post on X Saturday afternoon, noting that former Rutgers player Brad Cunningham and Hudson Catholic Head Coach Lamar McKnight were among those who lost their lives in the crash.
