Blaine Keith Milam,Jessica Carson Arrested; T- A new execution date has been established for a man from Rusk County who is on death row for fatally beating a toddler with a hammer in 2008.
Blaine Keith Milam, aged 36, along with his then-girlfriend, Jessica Carson, were initially apprehended after law enforcement discovered 13-month-old Amora Carson deceased on the floor following the couple’s call to 911.
According to arrest documents and an autopsy report, the couple, both 18 at the time, had bitten and struck the infant with a hammer during a supposed exorcism, believing she was possessed. At the time of their arrest, Rusk County detectives described it as the most horrific crime scene they had ever encountered.
Milam was first sentenced to death in 2010 and was scheduled for execution in 2019, but a judge issued a temporary stay. The execution was subsequently rescheduled for January 2021 before being postponed again.
Milam is now slated to be executed on September 25 of this year.
He is currently incarcerated at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Polunsky Unit.
