Benjamin Miller Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a man who was fatally shot following an alleged break-in at a residence in the Pee Dee area earlier this week.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a shooting around 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Vox Highway, located in the Johnsonville region. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an individual suffering from gunshot wounds, who was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken later identified the deceased as 30-year-old Benjamin Miller, a resident of Johnsonville. As reported by the sheriff’s office, witnesses indicated that Miller had entered a home and made threats to shoot the occupants.

“When the suspect aimed a handgun at the victim, the victim responded by shooting the suspect multiple times,” stated the sheriff’s office. A representative from the sheriff’s office further noted that the suspect had entered the premises without consent. While the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing, officials have indicated that charges in this matter are not anticipated.
