Benjamin Bonura Obituary, Death; – A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning in St. Tammany Parish, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old sanitation worker.
As reported by Louisiana State Police, Benjamin Bonura, a resident of Amite, was serving as a sanitation hopper on the rear of a stationary garbage truck on Hwy. 437, close to Royal Pine Drive. Shortly after 6 a.m., a 2024 Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound failed to halt and crashed into the back of the truck, impacting Bonura.
He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Hyundai suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a medical facility. The driver of the garbage truck remained unharmed.
