Benjamin Best Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday morning in the Town of Hopewell. According to deputies, 32-year-old Benjamin Best from Oswego was discovered deceased at the scene.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on August 13 along Route 5 & 20, near 3735 State Route 5 & 20. Deputies from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office report that Best was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Emergency personnel from Canandaigua Ambulance and the Hopewell Fire Department provided assistance at the scene. Route 5 & 20 was closed for several hours between Freshour Road and Mumby Road while the investigation was conducted.
Authorities indicate that speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Coroner’s Office, continues to investigate.
