Barbara Stewart Obituary, Death; – An 81-year-old woman has passed away following a dog attack in New Orleans, as confirmed by local authorities. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday, March 20, in the 10200 block of Brookfield Drive.
According to officials, the woman sustained numerous dog bites to her torso and limbs. She was transported to the hospital, where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Barbara Stewart, attributing her death to “multiple cuts and abrasions.” Lexi Paquette, a spokesperson for New Orleans EMS, stated that emergency personnel had to wait for police to secure the scene before they could provide treatment to Stewart.
“We arrived on the scene and had to wait for a code 4 to ensure the dogs were contained and posed no threat to our staff during transport,” Paquette explained. The New Orleans Police Department reported that three dogs were involved in the attack, and as of Wednesday, no arrests have been made. The Louisiana SPCA is currently investigating the status and future of the dogs involved.
Stewart’s daughter chose not to give an interview on Thursday morning but mentioned that a family representative would reach out. The investigation by the NOPD is still ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the authorities.
