Barbara J Kornegay Obituary, Death; – An 80-year-old woman lost her life in a head-on collision on Saturday, which also resulted in injuries to two other individuals. On Sunday, Alabama State Troopers identified the deceased as Barbara J. Kornegay, a resident of Chilton County.
The incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Alabama 171, approximately 16 miles north of Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County. According to Trooper Cpl. Reginal King, Barbara Kornegay was a passenger in a Nissan Rogue that collided head-on with a Ford F-150 operated by 71-year-old James M. Hollingsworth of Lamar Kennedy. Barbara Kornegay was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, 81-year-old Frederick Kornegay, along with another passenger, 87-year-old Anne N. Churchwell from Sylacauga, were both transported to DCH Regional Medical Center. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
