Austin Lee Matthew Miller Obituary, Death; – A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday during what authorities describe as an ongoing domestic incident that originated in Caldwell County and extended into Hickory.
Hickory police responded to a report of a shooting near Main Avenue Southwest and U.S. Highway 321 at 2:42 a.m. on December 7. Officers discovered Austin Lee Matthew Miller from Lexington suffering from gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.
According to law enforcement, the shooting was connected to a domestic situation involving individuals who were traveling on U.S. 321 from Caldwell County into Hickory.
James Michael Church, 32, from Granite Falls, was present at the location when officers arrived. Police have identified Church as the individual who shot Miller.
As of the time of publication, no charges have been filed.
