Aubrey Whitworth Arrested; – A woman is facing further charges after investigators connected her to the robbery of an elderly victim that occurred in November.
As detailed in the arrest affidavit, a 67-year-old woman was unloading groceries from her vehicle outside her residence on Tusculum Road on Friday, November 15, when she observed a small white car passing by. The vehicle then turned around and halted directly beside her car.
The affidavit states that a woman exited the white car and solicited money from the elderly woman, who chose to ignore the request and turned away. At that moment, the woman, later identified as 32-year-old Aubrey Whitworth, forcefully pushed the elderly woman and seized her purse. She took the victim’s cell phone and several bank cards before fleeing the scene in the white car, according to the affidavit.
Detectives were able to link Whitworth to the robbery after surveillance footage captured her white Ford Focus shortly thereafter at a pawn shop on Dickerson Pike. The vehicle exhibited distinctive front-end damage, making it easily recognizable to the investigators, as noted in the affidavit.
Whitworth is alleged to have used the victim’s credit card to purchase two wedding rings totaling $371.45 at the pawn shop, as indicated in the affidavit. She was arrested on December 4 for unrelated offenses. Following the investigation, she was charged with robbery, elder abuse, and credit card fraud on Friday, December 13. Whitworth remains in custody and is set to appear in court on Tuesday, December 17.
