The investigation is being conducted by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, along with the police departments of Jackson, Grove Hill, and Thomasville, as well as the First Judicial Major Crimes Task Force.

Reports indicate that sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence on Old Line Road in the Whatley community, west of Grove Hill, around 8 a.m. on Sunday.

There, they discovered three deceased individuals: a man, a woman, and a child. Another child was found injured from gunfire and was taken to the hospital, where they are in critical condition, according to the sheriff.

The sheriff has not disclosed the names of the individuals involved but mentioned to News 5 that he believes the man shot the woman and her two young children before turning the gun on himself.
