Artis Timothy Young Obituary, Death; – A jury in Somerset County has found a Brooklyn man guilty of first-degree murder and several additional charges related to the 2023 homicide of a Franklin Township resident during a robbery involving a significant amount of marijuana, according to prosecutors.
Following a two-week trial, Daniel Matthews, aged 45, was convicted on Monday for the murder of 46-year-old Artis Timothy Young. Matthews now faces the possibility of a life sentence, with sentencing set for April 25.
Authorities reported that Young was last seen on December 29, 2023, when he intended to meet Matthews in Franklin Township. The next day, Young’s family filed a missing persons report. His remains were subsequently discovered in Brooklyn, where an autopsy revealed that he had died from ligature strangulation.
