Arthur Rowden,Gary Tate Obituary, Death;- Two individuals lost their lives Thursday night when their immobilized pickup truck was hit on Mill Creek Road in Prospect, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The deadly collision, which took place around 10:04 p.m., is currently being investigated by the Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team, as stated in a news release.

The deceased have been identified as 67-year-old Arthur Rowden and 51-year-old Gary Tate, both residents of Prospect, according to the release. Both men were outside a 1987 Toyota pickup, which was disabled and had its lights turned off in the eastbound lane of Mill Creek Road, when it was struck by a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer driven by an 18-year-old resident of Prospect. The sheriff’s office reported that Rowden and Tate succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

“Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO 911) received the initial report of the crash, prompting the dispatch of Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies to the site for investigation. Personnel from the Prospect Fire Department were the first to arrive and confirmed that the two-vehicle collision resulted in fatalities,” the release stated. “The driver who survived is cooperating with the investigation.

Currently, investigators do not suspect that speed or impairment were contributing factors in the crash, and no criminal charges have been filed.” “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this tragic incident,” the sheriff’s office expressed. Next of kin have been informed. The STAR Team is a collaborative group of investigators made up of personnel from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department, Central Point Police Department, and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
