Areohn Savoy Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old driver lost his life early Tuesday morning in a collision at the intersection of Reed Terrace and Southern Avenue, Southeast. The incident involved a stolen vehicle and a driver suspected of impairment.
The accident took place around 4:12 a.m. on December 10, when a Lexus RC350, carrying two 16-year-old males, failed to yield at a stop sign. The vehicle entered the intersection and was subsequently struck by a Jeep Wrangler traveling south on Southern Avenue.
Emergency personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, along with the Prince George’s County Fire Department, worked to extricate both occupants of the Lexus from the wreckage. The driver, identified as Areohn Savoy from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite efforts to save his life. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment.
Investigations revealed that the Lexus had been reported stolen in Prince George’s County the previous day, and a stolen firearm was found inside the vehicle. The driver of the Jeep, Sean Stokes, 36, from Clinton, Maryland, was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
