Anthony Catalfomo Obituary, – On Tuesday, the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers provided updated details regarding a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a bicyclist in Williamston, located in Anderson County.
Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore confirmed that the deceased was identified as 59-year-old Anthony Catalfomo, a resident of Williamston. A 911 call was made at approximately 6:15 p.m. on August 21, reporting that a man had been struck while riding his bicycle on Firetower Road, near Mountain View Road, according to Shore.
Catalfomo was subsequently airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Monday. A video related to the incident was released on Monday evening.
Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway stated on Tuesday that a 2011 Ford SUV was traveling westbound on Firetower Road when it veered across the center line, colliding head-on with the bicyclist. According to the coroner, the cause of death was determined to be accidental. Ridgeway also noted that the driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries.
