Anthony Brown Jr Arrested; – A teenager has been convicted of manslaughter related to a shooting incident that occurred in 2024.
Anthony Brown Jr., aged 15, received his conviction on August 29 in the Juvenile Court of Caddo.
In August 2024, authorities reported that a group of minors, including Brown, harassed and assaulted 35-year-old Troy Ducote with rocks. Subsequently, they shot him in the back as he attempted to flee.
Ducote was discovered deceased by his neighbors. One neighbor provided testimony during the trial, stating that he witnessed Brown discharge a firearm in Ducote’s direction.
At the time of the shooting, Brown was 14 years old and, according to Louisiana law, could not be transferred for prosecution as an adult at the discretion of the district attorney.
The district attorney’s office charged Brown with second-degree murder and sought to apply a rare provision of Louisiana law to prosecute him as an adult; however, this request was denied by the court during a hearing.
Currently, Brown is being held in a juvenile detention facility and is scheduled to return for sentencing on September 29, 2025.
