Anna Pierce,Steven Pierce Obituary, Death; – A high school in Nashville is grieving the unexpected loss of one of its staff members as of Monday. The executive principal at Hunters Lane High School confirmed the passing of Anna Pierce on Sunday, who served as a biology teacher and tennis coach at the institution.
“Anna Pierce had just finished her seventh year of teaching at Hunters Lane. She had a passion for teaching biology and working with 9th graders, believing that the relationships she fostered with her students would support them through graduation and beyond. She was also one of the tennis coaches and dedicated herself to increasing the number of tennis players at our school. Ms. Pierce had a keen interest in leadership and was pursuing her licensure to become a principal.
As a devoted mother of two daughters, Ms. Pierce assisted fellow teachers in balancing their roles as mothers and educators. We will greatly miss Ms. Pierce’s dedication to students, her affection for our school, and her unwavering commitment. Our thoughts are with all those who cherished her.”
A representative from Metro Nashville Public Schools extended condolences to her family.
“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of Amina ‘Anna’ Darbashi Pierce, a cherished biology teacher and tennis coach at Hunters Lane High School,” stated MNPS. “Our thoughts are with her family and the Hunters Lane school community.”
The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that 30-year-old Anna Pierce was fatally shot by her husband, 46-year-old Steven Pierce, at a West End condominium located off 31st Avenue North on Sunday morning.
According to Nashville PD, Steven Pierce took his own life after the shooting of Anna. Detectives allegedly discovered a revolver beneath his body at the scene.
The investigation into the incident revealed a recent pattern of disputes between the couple regarding financial matters and, more recently, a possible divorce.
Nashville PD indicated that its domestic violence agents had not previously interacted with the couple.
