Angela Schantz Obituary, Death; – Oneida County Sheriff’s officials have confirmed the identity of the individual who perished in a fiery accident in the town of Floyd on November 22.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as 42-year-old Angela Schantz from Remsen. She was the only occupant of the vehicle involved in the incident, as reported by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.
On the evening of November 22, Schantz’s vehicle was observed traveling erratically in the eastbound lane of Route 49 in the town of Whitestown. The vehicle nearly collided with another car before it struck a tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction. The tractor-trailer, operated by 64-year-old Franklyn Hummel from West Virginia, and Schantz’s vehicle both ignited in flames.
While deputies were able to rescue Hummel from his vehicle, they were unable to reach Schantz before her vehicle was engulfed by fire. Hummel sustained no injuries, but Schantz succumbed to her injuries from the crash.
