Angel Torres-Lopez Obituary, Death; – A 23-year-old man from Indiana has been named as one of the victims in a shooting that occurred in Crete Township last week.
The individual—named Angel Torres-Lopez, hailing from Lowell—passed away at Franciscan Health Dyer on September 3, as reported by the Lake County Indiana Coroner’s Office on Monday.
Torres-Lopez was among two individuals discovered with gunshot injuries inside a vehicle late on September 2, after deputies from the Will County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 2300 block of East Exchange Street in Crete Township regarding a reported shooting.
Deputies located a black sedan parked in the street, which had numerous bullet holes and broken windows. An initial examination of the scene uncovered around 40 shell casings scattered in the vicinity.
The driver, who has only been identified as a 25-year-old pregnant woman, suffered gunshot wounds to her head and hand, while the male passenger was hit in the hip and buttock, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies administered lifesaving assistance until medical personnel arrived and transported both victims to a nearby hospital.
The woman was said to be in critical but stable condition late last week, as per the sheriff’s office.
According to preliminary investigations, detectives believe that the shooting was a singular event and that there is no continuing danger to the public.
The investigation is still in progress.
