Andrew Rainer Obituary, Death; – On Monday, charges were dismissed against a woman accused of being an accomplice in the 2021 murder of a Rhodes College student. Lori Frye, aged 34, faced multiple charges including facilitation of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, and aggravated kidnapping, totaling ten charges that were all dropped on that day.
Frye was implicated in the death of Andrew Rainer, a Rhodes College student who was fatally shot during a home invasion. Rainess Holmes III, her boyfriend, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with Rainer’s death earlier in April. The Shelby District Attorney’s Office released a statement on Tuesday explaining that Frye’s lack of a criminal record, her year-long detention while awaiting trial, and her cooperation with law enforcement were key factors in the decision to drop the charges.
The statement detailed that Frye was present in the hotel room when Holmes returned with stolen items from the Rainer family’s residence and was arrested shortly thereafter. Throughout the legal proceedings, Frye demonstrated cooperation with authorities and was willing to testify for the State at trial. Since the incident, she has had no further legal issues, and the victim’s family was consulted and supported the decision to dismiss her charges.
