Andrew L. Shih Obituary, – Authorities have identified an Adelanto man who lost his life in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 138 near Phelan over the weekend.
Andrew L. Shih, aged 85, succumbed to his injuries shortly after the collision that occurred on Friday at 9:10 p.m. on the highway at Sayle Road, just south of Phelan, as reported by officials from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.
According to a statement from the CHP, Shih was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck westbound on Sayle at an undetermined speed prior to the incident. Meanwhile, a 2022 Nissan, operated by a 60-year-old man from Moreno Valley, was traveling east on Highway 138 at approximately 55 mph.
The CHP’s statement indicated that “the Ford made an unsafe turning movement to the left, crossing into oncoming traffic directly in front of the Nissan.” The collision resulted in the front right of the Ford striking the front of the Nissan, causing the Ford to overturn.
Shih was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries, while the Nissan driver sustained minor injuries and received treatment. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
