Amya Devlin,Mikhail Bowers Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives and nine others, including three teenagers, sustained injuries in a shooting incident at a park in Philadelphia, according to police reports.
A man and a woman were fatally shot during the incident that occurred on Monday night in Fairmount Park, as stated by police Commissioner Kevin Bethel during a briefing on Tuesday. The individuals injured in the Memorial Day shooting are reported to be in stable condition, he added.
The deceased have been identified as Amya Devlin, aged 23, and Mikhail Bowers, aged 21. Among the injured are a 15-year-old boy and two girls, aged 16 and 17, as reported by the police. The remaining injured individuals, consisting of four women and two men, are between the ages of 18 and 28.
The shooting took place despite the presence of officers in the park, Bethel noted. “We attempt to manage the crowds as they develop, but it remains a challenge when individuals choose to fire into a crowd,” Bethel remarked. Authorities indicated that no arrests have been made thus far.
The police have not yet recovered any firearms, according to the commissioner. Investigators are still determining whether more than one weapon was involved, Bethel mentioned, but he pointed out that there was rapid gunfire captured in videos shared on social media.
