Amos Lapp Obituary, Death; – The New York State Police have confirmed the identity of the child who tragically lost his life when a vehicle collided with a residence in Oppenheim on Saturday. Four-year-old Amos Lapp from Fort Plain was allegedly visiting the Keyser Lake Road home with his family when the incident occurred.
The vehicle involved in the accident, a GMC Savanna Van, was reportedly operated by a person employed by the family. Authorities stated that while the passenger van was reversing down the steep driveway of the property, the driver lost control of the brakes and was unable to halt the vehicle before it struck the child, who was outside, as well as the house.
According to State Police, Lapp was declared dead at the scene. The driver has been reportedly cooperative during the investigation, and as of now, no charges have been brought against them.
