Amie Marie Cook Obituary, Death; Kendallville man, 64, killed in U.S. 30 crash in Ohio

Amie Marie Cook Obituary, Death; – A truck driver from Kendallville lost his life following a collision between two semis on Wednesday evening on U.S. 30 in Van Wert County, Ohio, as reported by the State Highway Patrol today.

Troopers from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Route 49 north shortly after 6:15 p.m. in response to a report of an accident involving two commercial vehicles, according to a news release.

The initial investigation revealed that Amie Marie Cook, 31, from New Albany, was driving a 2018 Freightliner semi southbound on State Road 49. Blane William Williamson, 64, from Kendallville, was operating a 2019 Kenworth semi traveling westbound on U.S. 30.

After stopping at the designated stop sign, authorities stated that Cook failed to yield to oncoming traffic and proceeded to cross the westbound lanes of U.S. 30. Williamson, who was in the left lane of westbound U.S. 30, collided with Cook’s trailer.

Cook received treatment at the scene and was released without any reported injuries. Unfortunately, Williamson suffered fatal injuries from the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner’s office, as indicated in the news release. The State Patrol was supported at the scene by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency responders. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
