Alonzo Ocaranza Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Sonoma County have confirmed the identity of the individual who lost their life when a boat overturned near Bodega Bay on Monday, marking yet another tragic event in a series of fatal occurrences in the region this month.
According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, a distress call was received regarding boaters in trouble near Salmon Creek at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Monday. The vessel, named Achelous, capsized while carrying five individuals and subsequently ran aground at North Salmon Creek Beach. Four of the occupants were rescued and transported to a hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as 69-year-old Alonzo Ocaranza from Turlock, as reported by the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. No further details regarding the incident have been released.
In recent weeks, two additional boats have capsized in the vicinity. On November 2, a crabbing boat overturned with three adults and three teenagers on board in Bodega Bay, resulting in one fatality, one rescue, and four individuals reported missing. Two days later, another boat capsized off Bodega Head, where rescue crews recovered one victim and attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, the individual did not survive.
