Alfredo Obituary, Death;- A man tragically lost his life after being struck by a patrol vehicle operated by a Visalia police officer on Wednesday evening. Friends have identified the deceased as Alfredo, a 60-year-old man known for his friendly demeanor and deep connections within his community. A small memorial and yellow tape now mark the site at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Rinaldi Street in North Visalia, where the California Highway Patrol has assumed control of the investigation.

The incident occurred around 9 PM when the officer, currently on paid administrative leave, was conducting a routine patrol and collided with Alfredo as he was crossing the street. Visalia Police Captain Daniel Ford stated, ‘The pedestrian sustained severe injuries necessitating immediate medical assistance, which was rendered by the officer and other responding officers.’

Alfredo was subsequently transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center but sadly did not survive his injuries. Locals remember Alfredo as a humble and peaceful individual who lived a simple life. His friend of 17 years, Jose Lizarraga, described him as ‘very friendly with everybody’ and ‘a cool man’ who radiated cheerfulness and honesty. Alfredo had been residing in a nearby house with his friend Gustavo Falcon for several months. Gustavo recounted witnessing the tragic event as Alfredo was on his way to the store across the street.

‘I cared for him as if he were my own family, and it is heartbreaking that he is no longer with us,’ Gustavo lamented. While he does not hold the officer responsible, he emphasizes the importance of safe driving and setting a positive example for the community, especially in light of the loss of his good-spirited friend. Alfredo’s friends have been in touch with his family from Los Angeles and Oaxaca to make funeral arrangements.
