Albert Castanon Obituary, Death; – The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcycle rider who died in a crash east of downtown on Friday, June 20, as 18-year-old Albert Castanon, according to a report released by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) on Wednesday, July 9.
According to CSPD, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of East Bijou, near Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive, around 12:45 p.m. on June 20, in response to a crash between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the motorcycle rider had died.
The preliminary investigation showed that a Nissan vehicle had been driving southbound through an alleyway and was attempting to make a left turn to head east on East Bijou Street. As the Nissan entered the intersection, the motorcycle hit the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The Major Crash Team took over the investigation due to the severity of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
On Saturday, June 21, the coroner’s office identified the motorcyclist as Castanon.
