AKiya Mills Obituary, Death; – A 19-year-old woman from Greene County tragically lost her life on Saturday evening in a collision involving a semi-trailer truck near the junction of U.S. 49 and U.S. 98, as reported by the Hattiesburg Police Department.
The incident took place around 5:10 p.m. in the 4800 block of U.S. 49, where a passenger vehicle struck the semi-trailer truck in the southbound lanes. The driver of the passenger vehicle, A’Kiya Mills from McLain, Mississippi, was declared deceased at the scene by the Forrest County Coroner’s Office.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 49 remained closed for several hours while emergency personnel responded and cleared the area, prompting authorities to advise drivers to avoid the vicinity and expect delays.
