Ah Loo Obituary, Death;- A man who was shot during a “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City on Saturday night has passed away, according to police reports on Sunday.
Authorities stated that Arthur Folasa Ah Loo was an innocent bystander when an “event peacekeeper” discharged his weapon at an individual armed with an AR-15-style rifle who had entered the crowd.
The peacekeeper fired three shots. One of the bullets hit Ah Loo, a resident of Utah, while another struck the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Arturo Gamboa. Emergency personnel rendered assistance to both individuals at the scene. Ah Loo was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the 39-year-old man who lost his life, as well as with the numerous community members affected by this distressing event,” stated Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd.
Gamboa was also taken to a hospital and later booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on a murder charge. In addition to seizing the firearm, authorities reported discovering a gas mask, dark clothing, and a backpack believed to belong to Gamboa.
“Our detectives are currently engaged in a comprehensive investigation of the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Redd further remarked. “We will not permit this singular act to instill fear within our community.”
Police indicated that over 10,000 individuals participated in the march, which concluded a day of protests throughout the state.
