Adrian Davila Obituary, Death; – Bryson Thomas Jr., aged 17, has been named as the alleged shooter in the incident that resulted in the death of 32-year-old Adrian Davila, as reported by court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday.

During a hearing on Tuesday, Thomas was officially certified to stand trial as an adult. According to court records, Thomas is accused of fatally shooting Davila, while 19-year-old Donovan Sanchez allegedly pushed Davila out of the vehicle. Sanchez was taken into custody on May 9.

On the morning of May 8, Thomas, Sanchez, and Davila were traveling together in a vehicle, with the intention of taking Davila home. The records indicate that Sanchez was driving, Davila occupied the passenger seat, and Thomas was seated in the back on the driver’s side.

While en route, Davila reportedly directed profanities at Thomas. Sanchez inquired about Davila’s residence, to which Davila responded that he lived on the south side of town but refused to provide a specific address. The confrontation between Davila and Thomas escalated, prompting Sanchez to pull over and instruct Davila to exit the vehicle. Davila resisted and became increasingly aggressive.

The records indicate that Davila reached toward the floorboard, removed his cap and glasses, and then turned his back to both Sanchez and Thomas. According to court documents, Sanchez stated that Thomas shot Davila at that moment. Sanchez then claimed he was uncertain of how to proceed, so he opened the front door, pushed Davila out of the car, and drove away.

As of Wednesday, Thomas remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center. He faces charges including Murder, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Person with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury, Violation of Promise to Appear, and Driving Without a License. His total bond amounts to $115,000. Sanchez, on the other hand, posted a $50,000 bond on June 5 and is no longer in jail.
