Adolphus Reuben Milligan Obituary, Death; – A man who was fatally shot in a domestic incident in western Jefferson County has been identified. On Monday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity as Adolphus Reuben Milligan. At 39 years old, he resided in Bessemer.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 9:43 p.m. on Saturday regarding an individual down in the 4000 block of Letson Street. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Milligan had suffered a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene at 10:18 p.m.
Jameshia Cheana Chavers, aged 33, has been charged with capital murder. The woman from Midfield was processed into the county jail at 1:32 p.m. on Sunday and is currently being held without bond. The charge is classified as capital murder because Milligan was killed in the presence of children.
