Abel Garcia Jr Obituary, Death; – The Ada County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who was found deceased in a Boise hotel during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Authorities reported that 40-year-old Abel Garcia Jr. was declared dead at a hotel located on the 2500 block of Sunrise Rim Road in Boise at approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, after attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
The coroner’s report released on Friday morning indicates that the cause and manner of Garcia’s death are still pending.
According to Boise Police, the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Brian Jones, claimed to have conducted an “assisted suicide” on the victim, an act that is illegal in the state of Idaho.
Jones has been booked into the Ada County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Booking records indicate that Jones faces an additional charge suggesting that the murder was “committed through poison, torture, vengeance, extortion, or sadistic tendencies.”
As previously reported by KTVB, prosecutors stated that Jones informed officers he restrained the victim’s neck for 10 minutes, took a 30-minute shower, and subsequently contacted the police to report the death.
Jones is currently being held without bail, with his next court appearance set for December 16.
