Felix Mendoza-Urbieta,Noemi Apolinar-Huerta Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision involving a vehicle on Sunday night in Wayne.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased on Friday as Felix Mendoza-Urbieta, 45, from Elgin, and his wife, Noemi Apolinar-Huerta, 44. Felix succumbed to his injuries at Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva, while Noemi was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred at 6:36 p.m. on Dunham Road, south of Stearns Road. Mendoza-Urbieta was operating a Toyota Corolla southbound on Dunham when the vehicle crossed the double-yellow centerline and collided with a northbound Toyota Highlander.
The driver of the Highlander and her 12-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries, as reported in the coroner’s office news release. The Wayne police, along with the DuPage Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team, are currently conducting an investigation into the crash.
