Ioannis Kyriakopoulos Obituary, Death: – The Toronto Police have identified a 64-year-old man who was tragically shot and killed in the Oakridge area of Scarborough late Friday night. Reports of gunfire were received on Landry Avenue, near the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road, around 11:25 p.m.

Upon their arrival, officers found a male victim with gunshot wounds in front of a residence. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been named as Ioannis Kyriakopoulos, a Toronto resident, according to police announcements made on Saturday.

Detective Sergeant Aaron Akeson spoke to the media outside 41 Division on Saturday afternoon, stating, “We are in the initial phases of our investigation. However, I can confirm that at least three suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.”

He urged any witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward, stressing that even the smallest detail could be vital to the investigation. Akeson noted that officers arrived at the scene within two minutes of the emergency call, but unfortunately, it was too late to save Kyriakopoulos.

“He was a father and a husband, and many who were close to him are now grieving his loss,” Akeson remarked. “We are committing significant resources to uncover the circumstances surrounding this event and to apprehend the suspects involved.”

Despite the heavy rain on Friday night, forensic teams worked tirelessly to collect evidence at the crime scene. While the motive for the shooting remains unknown, Akeson indicated that he does not believe it was a random act. “At this point, I do believe it was targeted,” he stated.

He also noted that the shooting took place outdoors and that there were other individuals present in the area at the time. According to Akeson, two suspects were observed on foot in the vicinity for a time before they fled with a third individual. Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
