Christopher Perez,Josue Mejia Arrested; – Two individuals have lost their lives, and two others are currently in custody following a shooting incident in eastern McKinney that resulted in a police pursuit.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex located near Logan and McDonald Street. According to witnesses, a 19-year-old man from McKinney engaged in a gunfight with a 20-year-old passenger in a pickup truck.
The truck subsequently fled the scene, dropping off the 20-year-old passenger and an additional passenger, 18-year-old Christopher Perez, at a nearby hospital. Authorities report that the driver, 21-year-old Josue Mejia, led law enforcement on a chase into Richardson. He exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended.
Perez was taken into custody at the hospital. Both the 19-year-old and the 20-year-old succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, and their identities have not yet been disclosed. Mejia and Perez are facing murder charges. The specific involvement of both men in the shooting remains unclear, and the motive for the incident has yet to be determined.
