Adrian Lopez Obituary, Death; – On Thursday, the Austin Police Department announced the identification of the individual who was fatally shot on Monday at an apartment complex in east Austin. The police responded to a call at 2:08 p.m. regarding an incident at the Waterloo Flats apartment complex, situated at 1300 S. Pleasant Valley Road. The caller reported that an individual had approached him and initiated an assault.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man, later recognized as 39-year-old Adrian Lopez, lying on the parking lot ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation by the Austin Police Department indicated that Lopez had allegedly attacked an employee unexpectedly and threatened him with pepper spray, which ultimately resulted in the employee defending himself by discharging his weapon.
Currently, police have stated that no charges are being filed; however, the investigation remains ongoing. This incident is being classified as the 42nd homicide in Austin for the year 2024.
