Garry Charles Bartlett Sr Obituary, Death; – A man was discovered deceased from gunshot wounds on Wednesday within his residence in the Deercreek neighborhood, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to multiple sources, this incident involves a son who allegedly shot and killed his father. At approximately 8:45 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 27-year-old Garry Charles Bartlett Jr. and the victim as 69-year-old Garry Charles Bartlett Sr. Bartlett Jr. is expected to face charges of second-degree murder and is scheduled for his initial court appearance at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
JSO reported that officers responded to a call regarding a shooting at a residence on Fawn Lake Drive South shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, they found a man in his sixties who had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. A male, believed to be in his late twenties or early thirties, has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated by detectives, according to JSO.
When asked by News4JAX about the relationship between the victim and the detained individual, JSO Homicide Unit Detective Ray Reeves confirmed that they were acquainted but refrained from disclosing the specific nature of their relationship.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives await the autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities have indicated that this incident appears to be isolated, posing no threat to the surrounding community.
