James Davis Obituary, Death; – A 13-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of another 13-year-old boy by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office following a shooting incident in Greenwood that occurred in early November.
As stated by the JCPO, legal proceedings have commenced in the Johnson County Juvenile Court. On Tuesday, the prosecutor’s office filed petitions for charges of murder and criminal recklessness involving a deadly weapon. Both charges would be classified as felonies if committed by an adult. A determination regarding whether the boy will be charged as an adult has yet to be made. The initial hearing in juvenile court is set for Tuesday, November 26.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a group of children was handling a firearm when the suspect allegedly aimed the weapon at the victim and discharged it. The juveniles subsequently fled the scene, leaving the victim behind.
The accused then contacted 911, claiming that an attempted suicide had taken place. The victim, identified as James Davis, was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The teenager has been arrested on a preliminary charge of murder. It remains uncertain who possessed the firearm, and the parents are not currently facing any criminal charges. This investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
