Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga Obituary, Death; Police identify man shot dead after trying to stop car break-ins

Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga Obituary, Death; – A man has died following a shooting that took place early Wednesday morning on the northeast side of Columbus.

The event occurred at approximately 12:14 a.m. in the 5000 block of Princess Place, close to East Dublin Granville Road. According to Columbus police, the incident began when a white male suspect was allegedly attempting to break into vehicles in front of an apartment complex.

A witness reported to the police that the victim, identified as 36-year-old Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga, confronted the suspect and was subsequently shot. Lopez-Lechuga was taken to St. Ann’s Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives were notified and arrived at the scene. They are currently seeking any available video evidence to assist in identifying the vehicle the suspect was last seen driving. Police have indicated that they are facing a language barrier during the investigation.
