Angel Lata Landi,Wilma Augustin Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder following the fatal stabbings of three individuals in seemingly random attacks throughout Manhattan, as reported by police on Tuesday.

Ramon Rivera, aged 51, was apprehended after authorities discovered him with blood-stained clothing and two kitchen knives. He is currently awaiting arraignment. An inquiry for comment has been sent to an attorney who previously represented him.

“Three New Yorkers. Unprovoked attacks that left us searching for answers on how something like this could happen,” stated Mayor Eric Adams during a press conference on Monday afternoon. Investigators are striving to determine the motivations behind the violent spree, which occurred within a span of two and a half hours on Monday.

“There were no words exchanged. No property was taken. They were simply attacked, brutally,” remarked Joseph Kenny, the chief of detectives for the New York Police Department. “He approached them and began his assault with the knives.”

The initial stabbing took place on West 19th Street, resulting in the death of a 36-year-old construction worker, Angel Lata Landi, who was near his work site by the Hudson River shortly before 8:30 a.m. Approximately two hours later, across Manhattan, a 68-year-old man was assaulted while fishing in the East River close to East 30th Street. Both victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after the attacks, according to Kenny, although the name of the fisherman has not yet been disclosed.

The suspect then seemingly moved north along the riverfront. At around 10:55 a.m., a 36-year-old woman named Wilma Augustin was stabbed multiple times near the United Nations headquarters on East 42nd Street, and she later died in a hospital, as reported by police.

A cab driver who witnessed the third attack notified the police, who were nearby on First Avenue and East 46th Street. An officer quickly apprehended the suspect. This wave of violence occurred in a major city where crime has increasingly become a focal point in political discussions and public concerns, particularly in the aftermath of pandemic lockdowns that led to increased disorder and empty streets.
