Irvin Hernandez Obituary, Death; – A postal worker was tragically struck and killed by an SUV on Monday while performing his delivery duties in Santa Rosa, as reported by the police.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Northpoint Parkway and Corrigan Street, where a significant collision had occurred involving a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and a GMC Denali SUV.

According to law enforcement, the SUV came to rest in the front yard of a residence on Corrigan Street, while the postal vehicle was located in the middle of Northpoint Parkway, near its dead end.

Numerous 911 calls alerted authorities to a man lying in the roadway, who appeared to be deceased. Callers indicated that the individual was the driver of the postal vehicle, while the driver of the SUV was conscious and seemed to be experiencing a medical emergency.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the postal worker in the roadway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by the police department. The SUV driver was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Investigators suspect that the SUV driver was operating the vehicle erratically before the incident, colliding with the postal vehicle and its driver, who was sorting mail outside the vehicle at the time. Initial investigations suggest that the SUV driver experienced a medical emergency that led to a loss of control prior to the crash.

The deceased postal worker has been identified as Irvin Hernandez, a 33-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. The roadway remained closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to reach out to Officer John Fisher at 707-543-3600 ext. 8550.
