Jody Lynn Rymel Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the woman who lost her life in a two-vehicle collision on November 16, 2024. Jody Lynn Rymel, a 44-year-old resident of Crosbyton, was declared deceased at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth the day following the incident, on Sunday, November 17.
As reported by Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, the accident occurred on Saturday, November 16, at 5:45 p.m. A Mercedes sedan was heading east on US-380, approximately 4.5 miles west of Newcastle, while Rymel was traveling in the opposite direction.
Gutierrez indicated that the sedan veered into the westbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with Rymel’s 2007 Mazda 3. Rymel succumbed to her injuries at the hospital the next day. The condition of her 15-year-old passenger, also from Crosbyton, has not been disclosed, although the passenger was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center.
The driver of the sedan was initially transported to United Regional in Wichita Falls and subsequently moved to John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, suffering from non-incapacitating injuries, according to Gutierrez. Gutierrez also noted that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
