Rasean Carter,Malachi Jackson Obituary, Death; – Two individuals who lost their lives in a shooting incident during a second line event in the St. Roch neighborhood on Sunday have been named.
Family members have confirmed to WDSU that the deceased, who were shot at the intersection of Almonaster and Florida Avenues during the Nine Times Second Line, are Rasean Carter, aged 21, and Malachi Jackson, aged 19. It has been reported that Carter and Jackson were relatives. The shooting occurred following an earlier mass shooting that took place approximately 45 minutes prior in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue during the same second line event.
The New Orleans Police Department has not yet established a connection between the two shooting incidents. In total, 13 individuals sustained gunshot wounds. The first shooting resulted in ten injuries, but fortunately, there were no fatalities reported from that event.
Carter and Jackson were confirmed deceased after the second shooting, and authorities have indicated that a third victim was hospitalized as a result of this incident. This individual is currently in stable condition, although their identity has not been disclosed.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended, and law enforcement is urging the public to provide any relevant information. The family is currently seeking financial assistance for funeral costs through a crowdfunding platform.
