Roger B Lim Obituary, Death; – The Caldwell County community is grieving the tragic loss of a local physician who was fatally struck by an alleged drunk driver over the weekend, as reported by the NC State Highway Patrol and acquaintances of the victim.
The fatal incident occurred shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 16. An NC trooper attempted to pull over a Ford F250 pickup truck for speeding on US-321 in Caldwell County. According to troopers, Randy Deion Collins, 31, of Franklin, refused to comply, veered onto Hibriton Drive SW, disregarded a red light at the intersection of US-321, and collided with a 2020 Subaru.
The NC State Highway Patrol confirmed that the driver of the Subaru, Roger B. Lim, 50, of Hickory, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Dr. Lim served as a physician in the Emergency Department at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Authorities indicated that speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in this tragic collision. Collins has been apprehended and faces multiple charges, including:
– Driving while license revoked
– Driving while impaired
– Felony fleeing to elude arrest
– Second-degree murder
– Speeding at 81 mph in a 55 mph zone
– Reckless driving
– Red light violation
