Valerie Goff Obituary, Death; – The funeral service for Valerie Goff took place in Bamberg, following her tragic drowning, one of two confirmed victims of flash flooding in Orangeburg County. The 66-year-old was discovered deceased in her vehicle, which had become submerged in floodwaters on November 8, after being reported missing the previous day.
“She was a joyful person, always smiling,” remarked her son, Carmelle Goff. On Saturday, family, friends, and church members gathered at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bamberg to honor Valerie Goff’s life, which was cut short by the floodwaters resulting from the Edisto River’s overflow.
Carmelle emphasized that he will cherish her compassionate nature above all. “She was always caring, eager to feed and assist anyone in need; she was truly a kind-hearted individual. Her absence is deeply felt by both the church family and the community,” he stated.
Pastor Wilburt Davis also shared his reflections on Valerie’s life, noting that they both became members of Pilgrim Baptist Church around the same time, contributing to the development of the church choir and other community initiatives. He expressed that her influence would resonate for many years to come. “She played a vital role in the church’s activities,” Davis remarked, “and her loss will leave a significant void in our hearts.”
Valerie’s family has expressed their intention to remain active members of the church community, ensuring that her life and legacy will be preserved and remembered.
