Authorities in Temple have taken a suspect into custody following an investigation into an incident that left one person injured on Wednesday evening. Police confirmed that 43-year-old Rafael Mason was arrested and is facing a charge related to aggravated assault involving a weapon. He has since been transported to the Bell County Jail.
According to officials, officers were dispatched around 7:19 p.m. to the 1500 block of Piedmont Street after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered that one individual had been injured during an altercation.
Police quickly identified Mason as a suspect and detained him within minutes. He was then taken to the Temple Police Department for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities reported that the injured individual was taken to a nearby hospital and is receiving treatment. The injuries have been described as non-life-threatening, and no additional injuries have been reported.
