Anthony Brancaccio Obituary, Death; – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car Monday morning in Cary, police said. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at SW Maynard Road and Kilmayne Drive.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The pedestrian was later identified as 84-year-old Anthony Brancaccio of Cary. He died at the scene.
Police said it appeared that Brancaccio was not using the crosswalk while trying to cross SW Maynard Road when the crash happened. Three lanes of SW Maynard Road were closed during the on-site investigation.
The incident remains under investigation, and police said there is no word on whether any charges will be filed.
