Bradford Pearce Obituary, Death;- The Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into a head-on collision that resulted in the death of a 70-year-old man from Dover and left two others injured on Saturday afternoon in Dover.
According to troopers, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Dyke Branch Road, west of Wheel of Fortune Road, on September 20. A Honda Accord was heading east when it veered into the westbound lane and struck a Volvo S40.
In an effort to evade the Honda, the 16-year-old driver of the Volvo swerved left into the eastbound lane; however, police reported that the Accord returned to that lane, leading to the crash.
The driver of the Honda, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
On Monday, September 22, authorities identified the deceased as Bradford Pearce, a resident of Dover.
The driver of the Volvo, a 16-year-old who was wearing a seatbelt, received treatment for minor injuries at a hospital. His passenger, a 45-year-old woman from Dover, was admitted to the hospital with injuries that police indicated were not life-threatening.
Dyke Branch Road was closed for approximately three and a half hours while troopers conducted their investigation.
