Alvin Cunningham Obituary, Death; – A 47-year-old man who lost his life when his truck struck a barrier wall on westbound Interstate 10 in Desert Hot Springs was identified on Tuesday.
Alvin Cunningham, a resident of Menifee, sustained fatal injuries around 1:45 p.m. on Monday at the North Indian Canyon off-ramp, as reported by the Riverside County coroner’s office.
Cunningham was operating a Ford F-550 and was traveling at a high speed when the truck collided with a concrete wall located outside the curve that separates the on-ramp from the off-ramp, according to Officer David Torres of the California Highway Patrol.
The truck breached the wall and traversed a “clover-leaf” style on-ramp to westbound I-10, eventually coming to a halt on a “sloped dirt surface,” Torres stated.
The vehicle ignited, and Cunningham was extricated from the truck while he was unresponsive. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where hospital personnel pronounced him dead an hour later.
