Tyler Brown,Marco Trevino Obituary, Death; – The San Antonio Police Department has disclosed the identities of the five officers involved in the shooting that resulted in the death of a man on the East Side late last week. As per a news release issued on Tuesday, SAPD has officially named the officers along with their tenure at the department:

Officer Tyler Brown, 7 years of service
Officer Marco Trevino, 5 years of service
Officer Matthew Olivares, 5 years of service
Officer Joseph Orozco, 7 years of service
Officer Steven Flores, 6 years of service
The officers responded to a report of shots fired shortly after 10:30 a.m. on August 29 in the 800 block of Cherry Street.

During a news conference that followed the incident, SAPD Police Chief William McManus stated that the victim, later identified as 41-year-old Jaime Gonzalez, had been involved in a confrontation with two drivers near his residence on the East Side.

According to McManus, Gonzalez returned to his home to retrieve a shotgun and subsequently discharged multiple rounds into the air.

The update provided by police on Tuesday morning does not specifically reference the earlier altercation with the two drivers that McManus had mentioned. However, it does indicate that Gonzalez was observed “driving erratically” in the neighborhood prior to going home, where he obtained a shotgun and fired several shots into the air.

Upon the arrival of responding officers, police reported that Gonzalez aimed the shotgun at them. Consequently, the chief stated that the five officers discharged their weapons, resulting in Gonzalez’s death in his backyard.

On Monday evening, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Gonzalez succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The medical examiner’s office also classified his death as a homicide.

McManus noted on August 29 that Gonzalez did not fire directly at the officers.

Prior to the incident on Friday, Gonzalez had a record of disturbance calls and was alone at his residence when the shooting occurred, according to the chief.

Since January 1, 2025, there have been seven service calls made to Gonzalez’s residence on Cherry Street. Records obtained by KSAT indicate that two of these calls were related to disturbances.

All of the officers who shot Gonzalez will be placed on administrative duty until further notice, the department said on Tuesday morning.

SAPD’s Shooting Team and the department’s internal affairs team will conduct separate shooting investigations.

The findings of both investigations will then forwarded to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, per SAPD protocol.

By KSAT’s count, the Cherry Street shooting is the tenth SAPD shooting so far this year.
