Police sources indicated that the shooting was a result of a dispute among tenants.

One resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that his mother’s boyfriend was among the victims.

“There had been some tension for quite some time, since the beginning of the summer, I believe,” he stated.

Authorities confirmed that a person of interest has been apprehended and charges are forthcoming.

This incident follows four separate shootings that occurred in the Bronx on Tuesday, resulting in two fatalities and two injuries, one of whom was an Amazon delivery worker.

“There have been numerous shootings in this area, a significant amount. We have lost many of our Black children here,” remarked Bronx resident Felicia Hart.

“It’s truly frightening that something could happen … because, you know, a bullet doesn’t have a name,” one woman expressed.

“We are going to implement a comprehensive mobilization plan. The situation in the Bronx involves gangs, young shooters, and recidivism,” Mayor Eric Adams stated on Wednesday.

A police source informed CBS News New York that for the past three months, the NYPD has been assigning additional personnel to specific commands in the Bronx. Officers begin their shifts at 5 p.m. daily.

Community activist Sidney Flores mentioned that he has requested an increase in surveillance cameras and police presence in Claremont, specifically.

“Now that I see, at 66 years old, the crime has gotten so bad and the way it’s happening, how they don’t respect others and just come up to you and flash a gun,” he said.
